What if Facebook developed a social network that takes a giant leap forward in design? That’s essentially what is Facebook Metaverse project — developed by Max Mosley and his team at Metaverse Ltd — is attempting to achieve.
Unlike Bling Face, which provides a delightful experience for a few seconds, Pokemon GO appears to be the master of creative methods to draw you in for a few minutes of enjoyment.
The most bizarre thing is that it isn’t even operating as it should. A somewhat passive experience, and as it turns out, the game hasn’t even been released to a large number of people. To get into the spirit of things, we may mix a few animations here and there to get a sense of what’s going on. And it may be the only way to share it with those who are just getting started.
What Is Facebook Metaverse?

Mosley stated in a lecture on the project last month that his team is aiming to create “a massive social networking program for everyone to use, to give us a fresh, innovative, and simpler method of utilizing Facebook Metaverse.”
There’s no news on how the program will look, but it looks to feature VR and 3D aspects, and it’s built for both PC and mobile, so your experience should be as fluid as your social networks.”
The Facebook Metaverse project seeks to provide an open social platform based on patent-pending technology that enables the creation of virtual environments, communities, experiences, and apps for Facebook and other social networking sites. According to Mosley, the Metaverse’s credo is that “shared digital worlds are part of who we are and how we connect.”
To now, Facebook Metaverse has secured $24 million in funding for the project, which will seek to build its virtual world on both the Web and mobile devices.
Much of this technology isn’t really novel. Virtual reality software and services have been available for many years. However, their solutions were mostly applied in science-fiction settings.
Of course, firms like Facebook and Second Life have already developed social networks, but the Metaverse initiative looks to offer a novel strategy for constructing these networks – one that goes beyond simply building a social network.
Facebook Metaverse’s Concept
is quite distinct from existing social networks. The Metaverse project, according to Mosley, is focused on “possibilities to experiment and play” in a world that is “physically different from the actual one, allowing you to learn, explore, and experiment some more.” In other words, the Metaverse is a social media experiment rather than a product created for today.
According to Mosley, the Facebook Metaverse technology may potentially be used to create other social networks. However, the project’s technology is still in the works.
For the time being, Mosley and his team are working on a prototype for a Facebook-powered social space called Worlds On Facebook, as well as a prototype software for the HTC Vive that allows users to explore a virtual world that sits on a PC display.
Mosley said he expects to show off the Metaverse app during this year’s E3, which takes place in June.
Is Facebook Metaverse Doing This?
Facebook Metaverse has been working on the Metaverse project for more than two years, according to Business Insider. Mosley, on the other hand, has no idea what he’s talking about.
I mean, Facebook Metaverse created its own virtual world, but it didn’t even have a Facebook social login function – and Facebook was not the first to create virtual worlds. Even Second Life was not the first, since a platform known as Inter-net existed decades before.

Is Facebook Ever Going to Become the Next Instagram?
Having said that, even if Facebook does not construct the Metaverse, it might easily become the next photo-sharing app.
According to recent rumors, Facebook Metaverse is developing a new messaging app, codenamed Burmese, that would allow users to send text-based updates to friends, similar to Instagram.
. It’s also likely that Facebook’s research team is developing a virtual reality program for the Oculus Rift that will allow users to travel around space, similar to Second Life. However, Facebook has a history of acquiring patents for projects that it may never develop. For example, it spent more than $2 billion on Instagram in 2012, but it hasn’t released a new photo-sharing app since.
And in 2013, it paid $3 billion to buy virtual reality startup Oculus. But that technology is still being developed, and no products are likely to hit store shelves until 2016 at the earliest. And last year, it paid $2 billion to buy an Oculus Rift developer kit, but it hasn’t released a virtual reality headset yet.
As a result, it’s difficult to predict if Facebook Metaverse will ever become the next Instagram. It’s also difficult to predict if the Metaverse will ever become the next Instagram.
What I can tell is that Facebook is doing some interesting things with virtual and augmented reality technology — and it has a history of purchasing technologies that appear un-Google-like, only to fail to deliver on their promise. As we wait for Facebook’s first (or second, or third, or fourth) attempt to establish the Facebook Metaverse, it’s worth looking back at some of its previous unsuccessful attempts to better understand why things may not go as planned.
Facebook isn’t the only Silicon Valley tech behemoth dabbling with virtual reality.
Snapchat, of course, was recently valued at $10 billion and is said to be developing a video-chatting app.
And, only a few weeks ago, Google paid an estimated $2.5 billion for the virtual reality startup and developer of the world’s first virtual reality headset, the HTC Vive.
However, Facebook’s next major experiment might be with another HTC Vive technology — the peripheral, which is a set of goggles that records where people’s heads are in 3D space.
In addition, Facebook paid $2 billion for Oculus, the creator of the Rift headset, in 2015.
And I’ve heard that one of the reasons Facebook purchased Oculus was to ensure that it could develop their virtual reality equipment into something that people would want to use.
VR gadgets like the Oculus Rift are currently cumbersome and require a strong gaming PC to run. However, Facebook’s Surround headgear, which it is rumored to be developing alongside chipmaker Nvidia, would link to a smartphone.
Furthermore, the headset is said to be simple to use and even controlled with your voice.

If Facebook’s Surround headgear becomes available, it may sell in large numbers. After all, it has the potential to be a very outstanding VR gadget at a fair price.
